Santa Barbara Keratoconus & Scleral Lens Clinic

Urban Optics Optometric Center in Santa Barbara provides consultation and treatment for Keratoconus.

Dr. David Zucker, O.D. has special training regarding scleral lenses, and is a member of the Scleral Lens Education Society.

If you have keratoconus or think you may have keratoconus, Dr. Zucker will perform a personalized evaluation with computerized video keratography (Corneal Topography), along with a biomicroscope exam and other techniques to diagnose or rule out keratoconus.

Have you ever seen a lens look like this? This is a custom designed, scleral contact lens!

If diagnosed with keratoconus, corneal ectasia, pelucid marginal degeneration, post-LASIK, PRK, RK complications (like dry eye or poor night vision), or have already had a corneal transplant (penetrating keratoplasty), Dr. Zucker will personally consult you on what is the best option or keratoconus treatment. Many times glasses or soft contacts will not suffice in giving you clear, comfortable vision. If normal visual solutions aren’t satisfactory, Dr. Zucker may recommend Custom Scleral Contact Lenses, sometimes called PROSE, or scleral shells.

If you are a candidate for our custom scleral lens service, be prepared for the clearest, most comfortable vision you’ve had in a long time.

Dr. Zucker uses the most cutting edge technology in scleral lenses. See below:
