What is dry eye disease?
Dry eye disease, or keratoconjunctivitis sicca, is a multifactorial disease of the tears and ocular surface that results in symptoms of discomfort, visual disturbance, and tear film instability with potential damage to the ocular surface. It is accompanied by increased osmolarity of the tear film and inflammation of the ocular surface. Of which may cause damaging physiological and psychological sequalae.
How do you know if you have dry eye disease (DED)?
Symptoms include, but are not limited to: gritty/sandy feeling in the eyes, foreign body sensation, burning/stinging eyes, sensitivity to light, fluctuating vision, eye soreness, sharp pain in or around the eye, and many more.
